Sorry for the severe lack of activity at the moment, I promise I'll get into things sometimes soon!
I'm in the beginning stages of finally growing up and feeling like a real adult and I'm buying a house!
Seriously, that's such a scary thought
Long story short:
Landlord selling house
Bid to buy house off landlord privately for cheaper
Landlord is deluded and still aims too high
Stop bidding
See beautiful house on local Sheffield Forum, book to view
Less than 24hrs later, offer on house and offer accepted
So if anyone has the slightest clue how to buy a house, who I go to and what I do, I'll be more than happy for the help!
Nah, I've been to financial advisors/mortgage advisors etc but before the figures were just prelim, but now I know actual house prices and my own investments (grrrrrr they've gone down, of all the worst times to try to take money out of investments and it has to be now!!! *shakes fist at US markets*)
The mind boggling part is deciding on what mortgage to go with and what solicitors to go to!
I want to be out ASAP because I don't fancy showing potential buyers around this house for my landlord and I also don't fancy having to tidy up especially for them either.
This sale is private too - anyone in the UK, don't use Winkworth! So this should go through faster than normal, but we're still looking at 5/8 weeks ]:
I've been packing already, planning the house and garden and generally getting far too and not sleeping very well thinking about it all.
Good luck on the house....I have one recommendation for you...if you can afford it, and have great credit....get FIXED interest rate....seriously. It will save you money in the long run.
Make sure the septic is drained and inspected before you move in, check everything! you don't want to get your house and find out you have to put THOUSANDS of dollars in to fix it Would type so much more, but my head hurts
anyways welcome to the world (soon) of house ownership

Thats exciting news Liz. The only thing I can advise is to set the ball in motion on things that need to be done and then allow the process to take care of itself wherever possible. It can be a very stressful process if you let yourself get into the sense that you have to control everything. Step back a little and make sure you give yourself time to relax and let go everyday. Hope it all goes well.
